the California Almond Industry Experience

My experience started in 2005 as a transplant to the Central Valley from Southern California. I married into the family business and traded a professional baseball field for an almond field. Working in the orchards for the first few years I got to learn the fundamentals of the business. 3 years later my brother in law & myself bought the ranch from my father in law Jeff Sperry. In 2008 someone asked me what happens to almonds after they leave your ranch, so the answers were disovered at the Almond Board of California. The past 17 years has found me on Global Marketing Committees, a 12 year Board of Director, Vice Chairman, and eventually Chairman of the Almond Board of California.

What happened to the family ranch? My father in law passed away in 2021 leaving a legacy of farming behind as we still carry the Sperry farming mindset through it’s 5th generation. We have owned and operated as much as 2,000+ acres and now are still working almost 600 acres.

The key highlights are:

  • 20 years in field experience from farm management, applications, and decision making

  • 17 years in Global Marketing with an active plan in 11 major countries

  • 12 years as a Board of Director @ Almond Board of California *complete with Vice Chairman & Chairman terms

  • A global view of the almond supply with a constant drive to improve the industry

  • A day by day social media experience through harvest.

  • Currently working on implementing a Global Almond Trade marketplace
